U.K. stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.20%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare Equipment & Services, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.20%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Mondi PLC (LON:MNDI), which rose 2.25% or 28.00 points to trade at 1,272.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) added 1.84% or 44.00 points to end at 2,434.50 and Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) was up 1.77% or 87.50 points to 5,022.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON:LLOY), which fell 7.30% or 4.54 points to trade at 57.66 at the close. Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF) declined 5.73% or 6.60 points to end at 108.60 and Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:SN) was down 3.03% or 34.00 points to 1,088.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 900 to 880 and 684 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for December delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $2,748.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.60% or 1.12 to hit $71.31 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 1.18 to trade at $75.56 a barrel.

GBP/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.17% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 104.06.
